Real Estate Legacy

James Cote is a member of one of Calgary’s pioneer Real Estate families. As a 3rd generation Realtor, James’ approach to Real Estate is not just intellectual – it’s in his blood!

His grandfather, Clair Cote Sr., owned a successful Real Estate brokerage in Calgary from 1928 to 1956. Clair Sr. was one of the Calgary Real Estate Board’s founding members, and was the first president from 1943 to 1945. James’ father, Clair Cote Jr., continued the tradition with PJ Toole & Cote Real Estate, a brokerage that prospered through four decades in Calgary from 1964 to 1992. Clair Jr. was also President of the Real Estate Board in 1974.

Carrying the torch

James believes that being an outstanding Realtor means having a true passion for the business. He lives by the philosophy passed on to him by his father and grandfather: it’s all about creating exceptional experiences for clients. James does this by providing superior service on every transaction. As a born-and-raised Calgarian, James also calls on his extensive knowledge of the Calgary marketplace – he has seen the city transform from a community with 300,000 people to a dynamic and evolving marketplace that today hosts more than 1 million people.

Energy and passion

Prior to dedicating himself to a career in Real Estate, James spent 18 years in sales and marketing with the Calgary Motor Dealers Association. For five years, he was the Southern Alberta Territory Sales Manager. As a result, James knows what it takes to meet customers’ needs. He is results-driven, energetic, enthusiastic, persistent and hard working. His outstanding skill as a clear communicator and a great listener makes him the ideal Real Estate professional.

Home is where the heart is

Coming from a large and close-knit family, James understands the value of a home in all its manifestations. There is a certain pride that comes from owning your own home, and the importance of having roots and a great place to live. As a full-time dad, James appreciates that a home is more than four walls – it’s a place to relax, bond with your family and a way to feel part of a bigger community.

Outside work, James finds time for composing music on his guitar, challenging his friends to grueling scrambles up the sides of mountains, and playing soccer with his two wonderful daughters.
